GET INVOLVED: BE A LIFELINE FOR SIERRA COUNTY
Sierra Frontier Medical Resources (SFMR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring and sustaining vital emergency medical services (EMS) for the residents and visitors of Western Sierra County. Our community depends on us to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) and urgent care that was lost in 2014.
Every donation, every hour volunteered, and every voice raised helps us staff our ambulances, train our responders, and keep our community safe. Join us in strengthening the future of healthcare on the frontier.

Donate
Fund Critical EMS
Your financial support directly fuels the infrastructure needed to save lives in our remote communities. We rely on community donations to supplement our successful tax measures and ensure long-term stability.
Your donation helps us achieve key goals like:
-
Sustaining the Paramedic Project: Funding the full-time paramedic position hired by the Downieville Fire Protection District to provide 24/7 ALS coverage.
-
Training & Education: Providing advanced training for EMRs, EMTs, and AEMTs, as well as crucial supplies for our training courses.
-
Essential Equipment: Ensuring our mobile urgent care and ambulances are equipped with the latest technology and medications.
-
Mobile Urgent Care: Supporting the operations of the Downieville Ambulance Urgent Care (DAUC) to provide care when the local clinic is closed.
Volunteer
Become a Responder
The heart of our service is our volunteer team. From answering 911 calls to helping with administrative tasks, there's a place for everyone to contribute.
Join our volunteer team as:
-
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR): Provide basic, immediate care at the scene of an emergency.
-
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced EMT (AEMT): Join our ambulance crews to deliver life support care.
-
Administrative & Outreach Support: Help with community events, fundraising, grant writing, and operational tasks.
We provide ongoing training and cover certification costs. No prior medical experience is necessary to start.
