At Sierra Frontier Medical Resources (SFMR), we don’t hire medical professionals directly — we help make it possible for them to serve here.
Through partnerships with local agencies, including the Downieville Volunteer Fire Department and regional healthcare organizations, we provide the funding, advocacy, and logistical support needed to attract and retain qualified emergency medical providers in our remote mountain communities.
 

Supporting Those Who Answer the Call
Living and working in the Sierra County backcountry requires more than skill — it takes dedication, resilience, and heart.
SFMR helps ensure that paramedics, nurses, and other health professionals who choose to serve here are supported through:
 

• Salary support and stipends for local paramedics and EMS personnel

• Recruitment partnerships with regional healthcare organizations

• Housing assistance and relocation support for short- and long-term assignments

• Community integration efforts that help providers become part of the community they serve

By funding and coordinating these programs, we make rural healthcare service not only possible — but sustainable.
